Corruption

Corruption rarely begins or ends with a single person … corruption runs in families.

The inability to see right from wrong, or worse yet the knowledge of wrongdoing and going ahead anyway is a behaviour that is developed and learned from an early age. One does not just suddenly become corrupt as an adult; the skill is one honed from childhood. Parents may or may not be aware, but I would suggest that most parents who have lying or corrupt children are at the very least turning a blind eye to it. The saying ‘the apple does not fall far from the tree’ really applies here.

Further, when you see one corrupt family member, you probably don’t have to look far to find other corrupt family members.

One exception to this trend is when a child recognizes corruption in his parents and decides to live life with honour … not to follow in his fathers footsteps so to speak. When this happens you will often see a separation within the family, where the child no longer spends time with parents. They will avoid being associated with the corruption of the parents.

In scripture, one of the requirements of a bishop (elder) is:

One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity.

1 Timothy 3:4

This requirement shows God’s order and how very important it is for a person in a position of power or rule to have honourable children.

Watch for these things and see if they are not true.
